My experience (Ramiro) Acute General Medicine – 6 months Social Well supported Busy Varied – ward cover, acute take, different clinical scenarios, chronic conditions, acutely unwell. Discharge summaries and TTOs, usually delegated to FY1. Orthogeriatrics/ Surgical Emergency Unit Less social. Less senior support around as usually in theatres. Need to know medicine Usually little opportunity for theatre time (within contracted hours) – ?orthogeriatrics exception. Discharge summaries and TTOs, usually delegated to FY1. Possibly less busy than medicine

Jobs and future career Valuable experience – procedures log, topic for interview, etc. Confirmation if it’s for you or not… Networking Application and portfolio advice Points when applying for core training Ideally FY2. However think of timeline for CT application However, not essential… Taster week!
