802.11 – Proposed change to Operations Manual – access to members area May 2006 doc.: IEEE 802.11-06/0528r0 September 2010 802.11 – Proposed change to Operations Manual – access to members area Date: 2010-09-12 Authors: Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation Bruce Kraemer, Marvell

Currently access to 802.11 members area is granted: September 2010 Currently access to 802.11 members area is granted: To 802.11 voters and former voters on an active voting pool To “active” members of other 802 groups,  when vouched as active by the chair of that group To anybody with members area status in another group.   Different groups have different requirements varying from “free to anybody on request” to “voting members only”. To the drafts to all attendees during an 802.11 session Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

Concerns with current access criteria September 2010 Concerns with current access criteria We make it more difficult for our own members than it is for members of other groups to access our drafts. I have had a number of reasonable requests for access from new participants who want to work on new drafts between meetings,  and don’t like having to turn these people down. Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

September 2010 Proposed Change Propose to open up access to the 802.11 members area to any active 802.11 participant Active is defined to be a member of status “aspirant”, “potential voter”, “voter” or a former voter member on an active WG voting pool. Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation
