1943-1987 Michael Bennett

Background information Michael Bennett was born on April 8th, 1943 in Buffalo Ny to a Jewish mother and Roman Catholic father. Studying dance as a teen, Bennett was already choreographing several shows at his high school before he dropped out at age 16 to join a road company of West Side Story, where he played Baby John.

Most Known Shows A Joyful Noise (1966) Henry Sweet Henry (1967) Promises, Promises (1968) Coco (1969) Company (1970) A Chorus Line (1975)

Dance Style Bennett had a similar contemporary style to Bob Fosse. However, he wasn't able to make his style very recognizable when he first started professionally. Over time, he focused on movements to work on characterzation. Such as making his movements to be more Jazzy, balletic, romantic, angular, athletic, or even a little bumbling.
