BTEC L3 National Diploma This is a double option course leading to a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Health and Social Care It is equivalent to TWO A Levels and is studied over 2 years. Grades range from PP to D*D* depending on the grades you get for each unit. There are 8 units in total. 3 exams. 5 coursework units.

The units we currently offer are: Extended certificate only (below only) 1.Human Lifespan Development. 2.Working in Health and Social Care. 5.Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs. 12.Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs. Diploma (above and below) 4.Enquires into Current Research in HSC. 7.Principles of Safe Practice in HSC. 8.Promoting Public Health. 19.Nutritional Health. *These units are subject to change.*

4. Enquires into Current Research in HSC – 3 hour exam 4.Enquires into Current Research in HSC – 3 hour exam. Learners explore the methodologies of contemporary research and investigate the implications for health and social care practice and services. 7.Principles of Safe Practice in HSC – CWK Assignment. Learners explore the importance of safe working practices, safeguarding procedures and responding to emergency situations in health and social care settings. 8.Promoting Public Health – CWK Assignment. Learners explore the aims of public health policy and the current approaches to promoting and protecting health and encouraging behaviour change in the population. 19.Nutritional Health – CWK Assignment. Learners explore concepts of nutritional health and influences on dietary intake, and learn how to assess and improve health through nutrition plans for individuals.

Task In 2/3s, read the 10 tips for better health. Discuss and answer the following questions. For each of the 10 tips, why could following the advice lead to better health? Identify which aspects an individuals health and wellbeing each tip might influence. (Remember PIES – physical, intellectual, emotional and social). If the advice was followed, who bedsides the individual might benefit? What disease(s) could be managed and prevented if each tip was followed?
