Self-Assessment Facilitators Guide Review and Resource Update August 28, 2019 Self-Assessment Facilitators Guide Review and Resource Update

Presenters Diana Robinson, Director, NIU Center for Governmental Studies Bevan Gibson, Director, Southern Illinois Professional Development Center

Today’s Agenda Welcome and Taking Stock Poll Questions Walk through New Facilitator’s Guide Changes to Fillable Forms New Appendix H (Small Group Facilitator Form) Revised Appendix J (Next Steps Action Planning) Revised Appendix K – Submission Requirements Self-Assessment Website Upcoming Self-Assessment Activities and Events Questions and Comments on Self-Assessment Webinar Feedback

Taking Stock What is your primary WIOA affiliation? Where are you in the self-assessment process? Are you engaging employers in your self-assessment? How are you feeling about your participation in self-assessment?

Self-Assessment Objectives Engaging local WIOA partners in exchanging perspectives around service integration. Capturing examples, useful ideas, and suggestions from the partners’ conversation that will inform action planning and contribute to the identification of state improvement opportunities. Discussing and arriving at a consensus regarding each service integration goal and the current and desired levels of integration for each. Identifying the top 3-5 priority service integration goals. Recommending how the service integration process could be strengthened.

New Facilitator’s Guide An Overview and Assessment Guide developed early in the process Didn’t provide sufficient detail for all local facilitators, so a Facilitator’s Guide was developed Provides more detailed steps in the process, a “script”, how to use the forms To be used with the Overview and Assessment Guide and WINTAC PowerPoint Does not change the basic process – just provides more detail Most useful to LWIAs who haven’t completed this year’s process and for future self-assessment processes Is a draft – we’re looking for feedback

Facilitator’s Guide Walk-through Bevan Gibson, Director, Southern Illinois Professional Development Center

Feedback Will you be serving in a facilitator role for your LWIA’s self-assessment process? If “yes”, do you think the Facilitator’s Guide will be useful to you? If “no,” do you think it may be useful to other participants as a source of information?

Changes to Forms Based on feedback from the field, three of the self-assessment forms were modified: New Appendix H (Small Group Facilitator Form) Revised Appendix J (Next Steps Action Planning) Revised Appendix K – Submission Requirements All forms are on the Illinois workNet website: https://www.illinoisworknet.com/WIOA/Resources/Pages/Service- Integration.aspx

Self-Assessment Web Presence https://www.illinoisworknet.com/WIOA/Resources/Pages/Service-Integration.aspx Four pages: Guidance and Forms Training, Technical Assistance and Other Resources Forum and FAQ Practices Just launched, looking for content and improvement ideas!

Feedback Do you think you will use these pages as a resource? Do you have effective service integration practices that you’d be willing to share? Are there other types of online resources you’d find helpful? (If “yes,” please use the chat box to describe them)
