Assignment 7 Controls and Lessons Learned

Planning – Controls One last look at your Plans… How will you ensure it is controlled? Monitored? On Track? How will you evaluate the results/impact/benefits? Have a look at your plans and divide them into stages: When do you think it would be a good idea to have a management review? Then as a team ask yourself how you will control/monitor the following: Risk Quality Finance Resource Communication Gender Mainstreaming Management of the project Outputs/Outcomes/Results And any other key “views” that need to be controlled/monitored Notes to Instructor: Last chance to add any additional “post-it-notes” these will help when they come to do their M&E plan tomorrow!

Sharing lessons learned In your Teams evaluate the past 5 days of the workshop. Consider the following and prepare a 15minute “presentation” on what you have learned and how will that make a difference when you are back in the mission: Part of the presentation should include: The planning exercise, what are the lessons learnt through the backwards planning, cross-cutting, risk etc. Use your products produced during the week to demonstrate any lessons learned. As part of your presentation consider the following additional agenda items: Look at your plan and reflex on the impact it will have on “Support” Comment on what you have learned during the week and what may have changed in the way you now think about “Support” Consider the following as you prepare your presentation – What is your “Action plan going forward” As an individual? Within your team/mission? How will you embed your lessons learned You have 15 minutes to present to the rest of the Participants. Notes to Mentors: Ensure participants’ comments and key points are captured on a flip chart. Groups have 60 minutes to prepare & 15 minutes each to provide feedback Remember it is a lessons learnt session – not time to prepare a formal presentation.

Course Closedown What's next – Produce PID and get Project Board Approval Key points to remember PLAN-DO-REVIEW Hints and Tips going forward 1 or 2 Changes makes the biggest impact Lessons learned Use Merlin to plan for module 3 Instructors Note – Group Photo!!! And Hand out Certificates……..
