Keep Your Results in TAP or Take them Home Today You will present these results during Student Led Conferences. Keep them in your TAP conference folder so you have them for conferences. At conferences you will present the test booklets and results to your parents/guardians. After your conference you can take all the information home. You can take them home today if you wish and then if your parents/guardians have questions they can talk with your counselor at conferences. Remember these are like progress reports. They show you where you are now so you can improve before taking the ACT or SAT.

PSAT Percentiles The three scores show your percentiles compared to other students in your grade level. In this example you would say, “I scored better than 47% of all sophomores nationwide who took the Math Section and am on track for college in this area.”

Measure of College Readiness These benchmarks are the scores that students should meet or exceed to be considered on track to be college ready. This does not mean that you must meet these scores in order to go to college. It is just information to take advantage of while you have time to work on those skills and better prepare yourself for the future. The following benchmarks predict with 75% probability, a first year college grade point average of 2.0 (C average) or higher. (Go back and compare your

Test Scores/Subscores This section breaks down your test scores by category and subscore. These are done in ranges so you can see where your strengths and weaknesses are. This can help you as you study for tests in the future.

NMSC Selection Index Keep in mind that this is a junior level test so the “Selection Index” compares you with college bound juniors. If there is an “*” after your index, you are not eligible for the National Merit Scholarship this year. This is calculated by doubling the sum of your Reading, Writing/Language, and Math Scores. In this sample the Reading score was 18, Writing/Language was 20, and the Math was 24 so [2(18+20+24)]=124.

Utilize the Information for Testing and Career Preparation The “Your Scores: Next Steps” sections as study guides for ACT and SAT preparation. Use the left side to see which areas are your strengths and the right side which areas you can work to improve.

Take Advantage of the Next Steps

Questions? Refer to the informational handouts. Go to the websites for both College Board (PSAT/SAT/AP) and ACT. For questions about your individual test: sign up in the counseling center to see me or your grade level counselor for an appointment. Bring your test scores with you. This PowerPoint will be available on my fusion page and on the counseling center website for your review to assist you in sharing these scores with your families.
