Sample Question: What is an Ice Age Sample Question: What is an Ice Age? How did Ice Ages affect prehistoric people? What was the Human Response to Ice Ages? An Ice Age is a reduction in temperature. This causes the advancing of glaciers. Ice ages caused Prehistoric people to have to adapt to their environment. This meant they had to develop new technologies such as tools and warmer clothing. People responded by migrating across land bridges. Some examples of land bridges are Asia to North America and Europe to the British Isles. The last ice age ended 10,000 years ago.

Other Sample Paragraphs Mesopotamia was a river valley civilization in the Fertile Crescent that was settled by the Sumerians. The Sumerians developed city-states throughout Mesopotamia. These independent cities were governed by dynasties. In a dynasty, political control is passed down from father to son. The writing method made up of pictograms that was used in Mesopotamia was cuneiform. Eventually Mesopotamia was taken over by the Babylonian Empire. This empire took political control of Mesopotamia, and implemented a new law code. The Code of Hammurabi was then used to govern the people of the Babylonian Empire. Over time, the Fertile Crescent would be controlled by many different empires and groups of people.

Other Sample Paragraphs Hunter-gatherer societies existed during the Paleolithic Era, also known as the Old Stone Age. Hunter-gatherers are groups of people whose survival depended on finding wild plants and animals. One characteristic of the Paleolithic era is being nomadic which means moving around in order to find food. Another characteristic of their lifestyle is that hunter-gatherers invented the first simple tools which allowed them to hunt. They also lived in groups of people known who moved around together known as clans. Early humans even created cave art which gives archaeologists an understanding of their life. Early humans had to overcome their physical environment in order to survive, and they were able to do this through their hunter-gatherer lifestyle.
