BEHIND THE WHEEL https://www.lcps.org/Page/93133 Students must have a Virginia Learner's Permit a passing grade in the Driver's Education Course (10th grade PE Class).  Beginning with the 2010-11 school year, students and a parent are required to attend a 90 minute mandatory "Partners for Safe Teen Driving" presentation in order to complete their classroom instruction. IMPORTANT NOTE: Students who have taken Driver's Education at another high school will need to get their "Certificate of Completion" from their previous school.

PARTNERS FOR SAFE TEEN DRIVING The mission of Partners for Safe Teen Driving is to help communities develop a parent education program, so that parents can guide their children through the first perilous years of driving.

PSATS October 16, 2019 https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psa t-nmsqt-psat-10 The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT, and even the ACT, but it's more than just a trial run. PSAT scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships during junior year.

AP EXAMS AP courses give students the chance to tackle college-level work while they're still in high school and earn college credit and placement. AP tests are college-level exams on specific subjects and are administered in May upon the completion of an AP course taken at a student's high school. At many colleges and universities, a high enough score will earn the student college credit. Exam fee for on-time exam orders (November 15, 2019) are $94 per exam. https://www.lcps.org/Page/1 68123

HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS A high school transcript is a record of your academic accomplishments in high school. It lists every class you took, when you took them, and the grade you received in each class. Your high school transcript will most likely be the first piece of information a college admissions officer will review. This complete record of your coursework, grades and credits provides concrete evidence of whether you're prepared to attend a particular college or not.

What College Admissions Counselors Examine on Your Transcript The types of classes you took in high school: The variety and difficulty of classes will help them see what type of student you are; AP/IB classes will show that you are serious about planning for college. A consistent GPA: When school search for new students, they want to see that you are willing to work hard, you enjoy challenging yourself and learning new things and you can maintain a high grade point average. For those who had a rocky start, keep at it! Schools also like to see GPA improvement. Plus, you can speak to what changed and why you want to go to college to help them understand the discrepancy among your grades. Your GPA and class rank: Be aware that some schools only consider core classes (like English, math, science and social studies) when calculating your GPA, while others look at grades for all of your classes. Your attendance record
