Presentation transcript:

A new year ahead - 2019/2020

Spiritual Moral Social Cultural In this Form Activity you will be considering how your actions give an impression of you. You will also be considering how to make the most of your time here at EPA.

Each September you are given the opportunity to start afresh and make a good first impression. You will meet new teachers this year, but you may also be taught by teachers you have met before. Either way first impressions count. Six weeks have passed by since we last met and we are all rejuvenated after the break. Use this opportunity to start afresh and make the most out of your time here at EPA.

Year 7 - Welcome to Emerson Park Academy Year 7 - Welcome to Emerson Park Academy. You have five years in front of you to learn and develop knowledge and skills. You will then be able to use these in order to be successful in life. In addition, you will make friends for life. Join in the clubs and activities, get involved in the lessons and make the most of your time here.

Year 8 If last year was successful for you - well done Year 8 If last year was successful for you - well done. If last year was not as successful as it could have been – think about what went wrong and make the necessary changes. Get involved in the huge variety of clubs and activities available - getting involved is the key to success.

Year 9 An important year for you as you will choose your options in the Spring Term. You also have your Charity Night coming up on 1st November (more about that in Cultural Studies). Talk to your teachers about GCSE courses that interest you and do not forget to get involved in school life. Extra-curricular activities are vital to developing your skill set.

Year 10 At last you can begin your option courses Year 10 At last you can begin your option courses. You can now focus on the subjects you enjoy alongside your core subjects. Stay organised, use your planner and keep up to date with long pieces of coursework.

Year 11 Quite simply – how well you do this year will decide what courses you can start next September. To start A Level / Level 3 courses next year, you will need at least five 4 to 9s including English Language and Maths. Places on apprenticeships are competitive, you need to do the best you can do. Your College Transfer process starts now. In January your forms must be submitted to the colleges or Sixth Forms of your choice. Start researching and visiting these colleges and Sixth Forms NOW!

Pause and Reflect 1)What would you like to achieve by October half-term? 2) What would you like to achieve by February half-term? 3) Next summer – how would you like to look back on 2019/20?

The School Community It is important that everyone in the EPA community feels happy and safe. No one should ever make anyone else feel sad and unhappy. The Golden Rule is – treat others as you wish to be treated yourself.

Look out for other people and help them, don’t be a bystander that watches or walks on by when something isn’t right. Tell someone that there is a problem, even if this problem has occurred outside of school.

Back to your fresh start then Back to your fresh start then. Have a great year at EPA, join in, get involved, help out and learn as much as you can that will help you to be successful in life. Only you can make “2019/2020” be an amazing school year – good luck!
