4th Annual Principal’s Tiger Award 2013-2014 July 2013

Award Purpose To recognize excellence in 5th – 6th grade students at Cortina Elementary School in the areas of academics, citizenship, service and extra -curricular activities. In May there will be a recognition night for the award recipients and their parents.

This is an award available for all 5th and 6th grade students who are motivated to achieve it. The award can be earned each of the 5th and 6th grade years. The award will be based on an honor system of students meeting the following requirements, having them signed off by the appropriate staff member/parent and submitted to Mr. Monroe.

Award Requirements Student must be on Principal’s List or Honor Roll the first 3 quarters Attendance: No more than 8 total absences during the year. 10 hours of service to the school, community, and/or a church group. Demonstrate 6 pillars of character consistently: Responsibility Respect Citizenship Trustworthiness Fairness Caring (no office referrals/detention time)

Award Requirements Complete the following required reading of all 4 books for your grade level by April 1: (school library availability is limited and you may need to purchase or rent book from local library) Participation in an extracurricular activity such as band, athletics outside of school, clubs, NEHS, Student Council, PAC-15, etc. Spend two one on one lunch interviews with Mr. Monroe during the year. 1st interest interview must be completed by October 4 to be eligible.
