At North Kalgoorlie Primary School it is our mission to provide engaging and challenging educational experiences that target all students. SCHOOL PRIORITIES Differentiated Learning – catering for all students at their level of skill and understanding. High quality teaching based on the WA curriculum (Australian Curriculum contextualised for WA) Data driven school – Improvement targets in School Plan Social and Emotional Wellbeing – creating an environment to optimise wellbeing for all members of our school community. Timetable – specialist subjects (Music, Sport, Science and Technology) At North Kalgoorlie Primary School it is our mission to provide engaging and challenging educational experiences that target all students. Curriculum Timetable – specialist subjects (Music, Sport, Science and Technology) HASS PATHS- targets the development of social/emotional competence in order to build children’s protective factors and decrease the risk of behavioural and social problems. Assessment- anecdotal records, rubrics, checklists, oral interview, CAT tasks, school wide assessments (PAT R, PAT M, PAT Science, PAT Wellbeing)

How do we Teach? Our school focuses on consistent strategies across the Pre-Primary to Year 6 classes. Literacy and Numeracy blocks are compulsory and take place daily. NKPS is an evidence based school. We collect data and use it to inform our future teaching and to set whole school targets. Data analysis and distribution also makes up an integral part of our handover process each year. SAER Support: Transition documents, SENET Reporting Tool, Individual Education Plans, Group Education Plans, alternative homework programs and additional classroom support.

Literacy Dedicated Literacy block Spelling- data driven (Words Their Way, Diana Rigg & NAPLAN) Reading- Teach the skills for reciprocal reading (predict, question, clarify, summarise) and the reading strategies.
