PROJECTS HOOK OUTCOME HOME LEARNING

HOME LEARNING Home expectations- read at least twice a week Daily is far better, little and often. In your home reader there will be a sticker asking a question. Please ask this question during your reading session with your child and note down your child's response. We will uses these responses to form our ‘teacher assessment of your child.’ It is important that you write down what your child says. On the same sticker there will be three spelling words to learn each week. Spelling test will be on Fridays and your child will be tested on the three words of the week plus an additional 5 spellings made up of words from previous weeks and Year 1. Keep going back over words.

Reading has two components Word Recognition The ability to recognise words presented in and out of context. The ability to apply phonic rules - blending phonemes to decode. High quality phonics work – prime approach for beginners in learning to decode and encode. Comprehension The process by which word information, sentences and discourse are interpreted. The same processes underlie comprehension of both oral and written language. Continues to develop throughout life!
