Setting up a Direct Debit in house the news bulletin for university of manchester halls 5 Setting up a Direct Debit If you choose to pay your licence fee in instalments then you will need to do so by Direct Debit – this is a system that allows the University to take the money on set dates from your bank account provided you have given us consent to do so. The best way to be sure your fees are paid on time is to set up a Direct Debit. You (or the person paying for you) will need a UK Bank Account to set this up. The Direct Debit dates for 2019/20 are October 25th 2019, January 22nd 2020 and April 21st 2020. If you want to pay your accommodation fees in instalments then you must pay by Direct Debit. If you don't set up a Direct Debit then it will be assumed you are going to pay your fees in full before the first due date and if you only pay the first instalment by cash or card then you will be contacted by our Credit Control department who will view you as a debtor. Direct Debits will be processed on the payment date specified in the confirmation letter. The account holder will be contacted if the Direct Debit is returned unpaid. We require ten working days’ notice in order to amend or cancel a Direct Debit payment. Completed Direct Debit forms (download one here) should be returned to the address below in the post or via email. In advance of the October 25th payment date your Direct Debit form should be submitted by Friday 27th September. Please ensure that there are sufficient funds in your account by close of business on the last working day before the Direct Debit due date as payments may be collected at any time on the payment date. If you know there will be insufficient funds in advance, please contact the Student Services Centre who may be able to help. You must allow ten working days for changes, as stated above. Unpaid Direct Debit instalments may incur a default levy of no more than 3% over the Bank of England base rate where the debt remains outstanding for 14 days or more. If there is a change to the Direct Debit correspondence address, you must inform the Student Service Centre by email or in writing to: Student Services Centre Directorate for the Student Experience The University of Manchester Oxford Road Manchester M13 9PL dd.accomm@manchester.ac.uk ALL PAYMENT PLANS CAN BE ACCESSED VIA THIS LINK
