What is a Catholic University? A Catholic university is called to be “an incomparable center of creativity and dissemination of knowledge for the good of humanity. It is dedicated to research, to teaching and to the education of students who freely associate with their teachers in a common love of knowledge.” --Pope John Paul II, Ex corde ecclesiae:  Apostolic Constitution of the Supreme Pontiff John Paul Second on Catholic Universities. August 15, 1990, para. 1

Three hallmarks of a Catholic university: a community of learning where students and teachers affirm and encourage one another in a love for learning. knowledge is always at the service of promoting and sustaining the innate human dignity and value of every human being and the culture in which they live. Because knowledge serves the betterment of humanity and culture, a Catholic university strives for an integration of all knowledge. These points are taken from Fr. Gouldrick’s mission outline, 2013
