Mrs. Venturi’s Kindergarten Math Chapter 2 is really short and we will be finishing it up this week and taking our test on it by the end of the week. We are working on counting and number recognition in our math centers. This includes recognizing numbers on dice, counting fingers, and using ten frames. Important Dates Sept. 18th – 2:05 Dismissal 11:30 Dismissal – Sept. 25th Oct. 11th – No school – Teacher Institute Oct. 14th – No School – Columbus Day **If you would like to volunteer in the classroom for class parties and/or field trips, a new board policy states that you must be fingerprinted. Please visit the ad building to get this done.** Kimes School saves Box Tops – please save yours and send them in at any time! You can also download the Box Tops app and simply scan your receipt. Writing We have been working a lot on recognizing and writing our names. Please practice writing your child’s name with the first letter only capitalized. We have also been practicing writing our alphabet letters and naming their sounds. We our having a lot of fun making our letter hats each day! This week we will be working on O, P, Q, R, and S.

Mrs. Venturi’s Kindergarten Reading We will be reading Miss Bindergarten takes a Field Trip. Letter Focus – Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz. Sight Words – the, little, am, I Amazing Words – bakery, post office, fire station, library, park, chaperone. This week’s little decodable reader book is entitled At The Zoo. Have your child read this to you at home. We practice several times at school and they are very excited about learning to read! We have been having a lot of fun in our reading centers, ask your child to tell you about it! This week we will open up our STEM bins. Planners & Folders Please check your child’s planner every night. This is where you can find out about how your child’s day went. Please empty out folders every night. Some folders are getting very full. Thank you for your continued support at home! Science Our kiddos have loved becoming scientists. We have been learning about our five senses, with many experiments and investigations. This week we will even have science centers with a new investigation at each one.
