parent meeting September 2019 Watton at Stone Primary and nursery School

My key priorities To develop positive working relationship with all members of the school community. Continue to develop a Partnership between home and school. To launch the new behaviour strategy and implement across the school. All children maximise their potential and make the very best progress in all lessons. for children to be nurtured in order to Thrive and achieve.

Aspirations for School moving forward next year. Continue to ensure every child is challenged so they can succeed to be the best they can be in Writing, Reading and Maths. Further develop communication with parents. Launch the parents forum to hear their views and weekly newsletter. To ensure teaching is consistently well matched to the needs of all learners so that every child is challenged at the right level. Continue to have lessons and learning experiences which develop a love of learning. To improve provision at playtimes and lunchtimes, ensuring the playground is a place of positive social, emotional and physical activity for every child.

Attendance and punctuality Inform school of any absence by 9.30am on the first day. Bring your child into school if unsure if your child is unwell, we will contact you straight away if we are concerned. We will try and support children who are struggling to separate form you in the morning. Meet with you to discuss any issues going on in school or outside of school. Not take term time holidays – these won’t be authorised.

Each child’s attendance can be summarised as: 100% Outstanding attendance! 95-99% + Expected attendance –Well done ! This will help all aspects of your child’s progress and life in school. 93% – 95% Below expected – Strive to build on this. Your child’s attendance is below expected and will be monitored. 81% - 89% Well below expected attendance and a cause for concern. Absence is now significantly affecting your child’s attainment and progress. 80% & below Unacceptable – Absence is seriously affecting attainment and progress and disrupting your child’s development.

Friends of watton PTA that supports the school in a number of ways. Throughout the year, they organise a wide range of events eg quiz nights, discos, Christmas bazaars the money raised by the PTA has paid for play equipment, interactive whiteboards and new sports kits. Their success relies on parental support. Please let us know if you are able to help and would like to be a friend of watton.

Communication We try to provide a wide range of different ways of communicating with parents. We use a texting service to send out short messages and reminders. all letters and weekly newsletters are sent via email. Copies of all letters and newsletters uploaded onto the school website. Our school website www.wattonatstone.Herts.sch.uk is updated with events, letters and information so please check it regularly.
