Reading: Reading records handed in every day At home, children are to read at least 3 times a week Entries in reading records do not have to be school books – any reading can be recorded Children change their own books in Year 6 Parent must sign reading records If the reading record is not signed 3 times within a week, children are given the opportunity to read in school over a break time

At the end of each half term, children will bring their kits home to be washed.

Communication Majority of communications will be paperless It is essential that we have up-to-date email addresses and telephone numbers Please ensure you download the app which accompanies the school website Where permission slips are required, we are still working this out. If you have a printer, you can download letters, print and return. Letters & communications may also be made available on SeeSaw
Coming into class Outside door will open at 8.40am Children will enter through the cloakroom doors. Please note: Parents are not permitted entry If parents need to communicate with the teacher, either message on Seesaw, write in the reading record or meet at the end of the day. Registers close at 9.00am – children who arrive after this time will need to go to the office Morning tasks – a chance to consolidate, revisit and wake up! Children will leave from the back door. Permission will be needed, in writing, for children who walk home alone or to the gate. Only children walking home alone are permitted mobile phones – these must be handed in.
SATs We will be testing continuously throughout the year in preparation for the SATs in May For these tests we use past papers – please do not use these at home as we will not get accurate results and be able to help the children where they need it. In the spring term we offer revision books at a reduced price. We set homework from these books and work from these books in booster sessions. We will hold a SATs meeting in the Spring term.
Preparing for Year 6 Autumn Term - Swimming 16th October – Hatfield House visit £17.00 October - Harvest festival - food donation to come to school. Parents invited to join at St Mary’s church December - Christingle service. Children are bring in a large orange. Parents also invited to join at St Mary’s church December - Christmas fete Christmas jumper day / Christmas dinner February – SATs meeting for parents March World book day – Dressing up as favourite book character 3 x class presentations throughout the year (dates to follow) 11th May – SATs Summer term – Residential trip to Kingswood (Sunday 14th –Friday 19th June)
