A few premisses: There is a REAL Spiritual realm. There are “gods” (lowercase g) and angels. They are created. They interact with the natural world in a very tangible way. We are both physical and spiritual - made to intersect. The term ‘Sons of God’ includes women.

2 Cor 4:18 (NLT) “18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” Col 3:2 (NLT) “2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”

2. What does it mean to be called ‘Sons of God’?

Gen. 6:1-2 “1 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.”

‘Sons of God’ are clearly not human beings. Old Testament ‘Sons of God’ are clearly not human beings. Job 38:7 “7 when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

Psa. 82:1-8 “1 God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: 2 “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah 3 Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. 4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” 5 They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. 6 I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; 7 nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!"

Angels are not called God’s Children in the Old Testament 1 The gods exist and, at least some, have messed up really badly! v5 “without wisdom” but v6 “you are gods, sons of God Most High” el-yone - The Supreme God. Angels are not called God’s Children in the Old Testament

2 They interact with earth Father children, eat, talk, interact in our “Minecraft” world.

3 We don’t see them directly Spiritual reality is invisible to us except Relationally

4 God judges the earth Why? v8 “Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!” 1. God dispersed the nations under the gods. 2. So God judges accountable rulers over earth.

Through Jesus Christ God “inherits” back all the nations of the world Matt 28:18-19 “18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,...” Every “Ethnos”

New Testament “Sons of God” used for Believers, Human disciples of Christ, as promotion or Identity.

Matt. 5:9 “9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

John 1:12 "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,”

John 10:34-35 “34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? [quoting Psalm 82] 35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came...”

Col. 1:15-20 “15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

God is making a Newniverse And we have an eternal place and purpose there.
