How can weak people be friends with All-powerful God?
Step One: God rescues us and sets us free. Step Two: God teaches us how to live as free people.
Exodus 20: 1, 2 God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
As creatures facing death, we are prone to selfishness and we are prone to feel unworthy.
Once Christ sets us free everything about us becomes sacred
Treat your parents with respect. Exodus 20: 12 “Honor your father and your mother.” Treat your parents with respect.
Deuteronomy 6 4 “Israel, listen! Our God is the Lord! Only the Lord! 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your being, and all your strength. 6 These words that I am commanding you today must always be on your minds. 7 Recite them to your children. Talk about them when you are sitting around your house and when you are out and about, when you are lying down and when you are getting up.” CEB
Give every person respect. Exodus 20: 14 “You shall not murder.” Human life is sacred. Give every person respect.
Genesis 1:26a-27 God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature . . . “ God created human beings; God created them godlike, Reflecting God's nature. God created them male and female. (Message Bible)
“You shall not commit adultery.” Exodus 20: 14 “You shall not commit adultery.”
Matthew 19 4Jesus replied . . . “from the beginning ‘God made them male and female.’” “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ “. . . they are no longer two but one . . .” NLT 1 Corinthians 6 16 “Don’t you know that anyone who is joined to someone who is sleeping around is one body with that person? The scripture says, The two will become one flesh.” CEB
Don’t get in the way of everyone having what they need to live. Exodus 20: 15 “You shall not steal.” Don’t get in the way of everyone having what they need to live.
Micah 4:2-4 “The Lord will teach us . . . and we will obey him. 3He will settle arguments between distant and powerful nations. They will pound their swords and their spears into rakes and shovels; they will never again make war or attack one another. 4Everyone will find rest beneath their own fig trees and grape vines, and they will live in peace.” CEV

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” Exodus 20:16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” Murder is one way of disposing of a person. Lies are another way.
Don’t let your selfish desires Exodus 20: 17 “You shall not covet.” Don’t let your selfish desires rule over you.
Colossians 2:23 “Obeying rules may seem to be the smart thing to do. They appear to make you love God more and to be very humble and to have control over your body. But they don't really have any power over our desires.” CEV
Galatians 2:19-20 “When I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law . . . so that I might live for God. 20 My old self has been crucified with Christ.
