Towards a possible UfM Ministerial Conference on Blue Economy Focussing on Sustainable Blue Investment and Jobs in the Mediterranean Building on previous Ministerial Conferences, cooperation frameworks/initiatives/projects and addressing common main challenges and opportunities

Possible point for discussion and deliverable of UfM Ministerial on Blue economy (1) Blue economy sustainable development (aquaculture, maritime tourism, maritime transport, ocean energy) Blue research, innovation, knowledge and skills: Train the next generation of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and workers for qualified jobs of the sea

Possible point for discussion and deliverable of UfM Ministerial on Blue economy (2) Maritime governance: reconfirm key existing cross-sectorial cooperation mechanisms/tools. Capitalize on existing projects and initiatives, by endorsing a roadmap with specific actions/initiatives/projects and identify responsibilities, sources, outcomes and timelines.

Tentative topics for the Stakeholder Conference on Blue economy Tentative Roadmap – Stakeholder Conference on Blue economy (2) Focus on investment and jobs creation in the Blue economy through research&innovation and access to finance Indicative topics: - Sustainable shipping and ocean energy - Research and Innovation in the MED - Maritime and Coastal Tourism as a key enabling sector - Maritime governance tools - Sea pollution. - Improving cooperation and sharing on data for decision-support.
