Project`s Objectives The ENSURE project aims to: Provide a set of modules with focus on medicine and medicine-related studies enabling students to build their transversal research-oriented competences and skills Create learning materials for students on how to conduct clinical studies, on the ethics and legal provisions of data-usage of in research with humans/patients, how to write research papers and scientific report, on how to develop individual career plans, how to build an international cooperation network, how to identify financing opportunities, how to formulate a project idea and plan Provide a learner-oriented methodology for transferring the knowledge using real-life problems where students can apply their knowledge. Support will be offered by teachers through a moderation process both in individual and group settings during workshops. Organise a series of workshops wherein students will exercise their transversal research-oriented skills. Project duration: 12 months - 01.12.2018 – 30.11.2019

Results • A methodology with practical use cases and workshop guidelines • A handbook with tools and methods for research-oriented transversal skills • A series of intensive short-term trainings • Publications in peer-reviewed conferences

The timetable for the 2 trainings will be set up by common agreement and should include 3 days of lecture/trainings/workshops.

Schedule of activities: A1 - Kick-off meeting organized in Tromso – Norway (21.03.2019 – 22.03.2019) A2 - Establishing the Local Organizational Bureau (LOB) for administrative matters A3 - Elaboration of training materials (O1 + O2) A4 - Students`selection A5 - 2 Trainings organized in Sibiu – Romania (the period will be decided together) 20th – 22nd of May 2019 October 2019

A learner-based methodology that can be used for training transversal skills in medicine and medicine-related study programs which will be presented during the Dissemination conference. Final Reports Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, as project coordinator will, submit a general report on the activities and results of the project. University of Tromsø – The Arctic University of Norway | UiT | Norway, as donor partner, will prepare a certification of costs (attached model).

Students`selection Target Groups: students studying at bachelor (5th, 6th year) or PhD level in the fields of Medical sciences, Sciences, Science related

The selection process Each partner university will establish a selection commission, made of a representative of the specialised department/faculty Publication and dissemination of the call for application within the partner universities. The period open for applications and the criteria for application and selection will be published on the website of each partner and provided timely to the interested students. Collection of the applications. Selection of the students by the selection commission based on the established criteria Announcement to the selected students and further procedure to prepare their presence in the activities of the IP.

Selection criteria for participating students Students will be selected based on: 1.CV - which needs to contain at least their study, specific interests and specialisation(s) during the study 2. Motivation letter 3 . Interview with the selection commission 4. Application form (available on the project`s website)

C1 Training Course - Activity Description Duration: 5 days Participants: 20 students Training 1 will be composed by a series of workshops focusing on following topics: • How to conduct (clinical/research) studies o Design of (clinical/research) studies o Ethics in research o Legal provision in medical and human-related scientific research o Data collection, data cleansing, data visualization and evaluation • Solutions for paperless research • Academic writing of scientific reports and papers • How to present a scientific report/paper

C2 Training Course - Activity Description Duration: 5 days Participants: 20 students Training 2 will be composed by a series of workshops focusing on following topics: • How to develop and individual career plan o Goal setting o Time and conflict management o Collaboration and teamwork o Building an international network • How to define and formulate research ideas and plans for projects • Identifying research funding opportunities • How to set-up a research proposal

Diploma Each participant in the trainings will receive a Diploma for attending the courses.

M1 Dissemination Conference of Project Results Dates: 16 Oct 2019 -18 Oct 2019 Location: Sibiu, Romania Event Description We will disseminate the project results, the Learner-based methodology and the Handbook of tools and methods during a multiplier event where we will invite relevant stakeholders and also other young researchers in the medical field and related domains.
