St Mary’s & St Patrick’s RC Primary School Welcome to our celebration newsletter 2018-2019. This year we have many achievements that we are very proud of and we would like to share some of them with you. To see more of our achievements follow us on Twitter: @stmarypatrick Facebook: St Mary’s & St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Healthy Schools Award Phase 5 In July we were awarded our 5th leaf as a Healthy School. The Healthy School & Eco School Council’s shared all the fantastic things we do to look after the world God gave us.

Awards First LEGO League with BLC Ava, Daisy, Freddy, Caelan & Sawyer were supported by Grace, Iona & Jonah in sharing their Mission Moon LEGO build. They won the Raising Star Award! Ogwr Judo Competition Boys & Girls JudoTeam. The boys came 2nd The girls are the Ogwr Schools Girls Champions!

Library Champions Alicia, Anwen & Ezme took part in and won the Maesteg Library World Book Day Quiz. They then took on the winners from schools in Bridgend. They won! Regional Champions! STEM Leaders In March, Y5 led an INSET morning for teachers as part of the Festival of Learning. They were commended on their knowledge, friendliness and manners. Children training Teachers. Festival of Learning June brought the celebration of learning in Bridgend. The School Council attended on Day 1 to showcase our Cluster working with the Church Schools. On day 2 the ECO Council shared our work with the Director of Education – former pupil Lyndsey Harvey.

STMP University This year has seen the launch of STMP University. On a Friday, for a duration of 5 weeks ,all pupils embark on a University course. Staff choose the skills they are able to offer to enrich the curriculum of the school and develop a 5 week bespoke programme. Pupils take home a Prospectus with the learning programmes on offer for their particular Key Stage, and choose 2 programmes. Pupils then undertake the learning programme for 2 hours a week.
