High Ham C of E Primary School School Council

What is a School Council? School Council is a group of KS 2 pupils elected by their class to represent the views of all pupils to help improve their school. Pupils Elected Representatives

What Does a School Council Do? The school council will meet with Mrs Stewart to discuss things within the school. This may include, school lunches, play time equipment, fundraising events. Members of the school council will be responsible for helping to carry out the ideas that have been agreed. This may be by talking to the school governors, Mrs Rosser or writing letters to people.

How do I get to be a member of the School Council? Tell your teacher or Mrs Stewart today that you are interested. If your teacher or Mrs Stewart thinks you would be a good representative they will give you a piece of paper that you can write why you would be a good council member on. You have a week to talk to your classmates to say why they should choose you. You will then say a short speech to your class explaining why they should choose you. The class will then have a vote.

What Qualities Would a School Councillor Need? Commitment to the school. Friendly. Able to communicate well with children and adults. Have initiative. Be a good listener. Be a good ambassador for the school.

Will I Miss Lessons if I am a School Councillor? There will be 1 meeting every half term. There may be in-between meetings, known as Extraordinary Meetings. Meetings will mostly be at Lunchtime and sometimes in class time.

Any Questions?
