Home learning Reading – three times a week(school books or home) New home learning folders Home learning (maths and grammar) – weekly (Friday to Wednesday) Home learning may sometimes be project based Reading home learning – weekly Reinforce this is an expectation from the policy but that adult support is available. Homework club? Times tables - test

Reading: Focus on demonstrating comprehension and understanding, not just word recognition or sight vocabulary Children will not 'move up’ through the book bands without demonstrating this Individual reading, guided reading and comprehension work across the curriculum will all contribute to this within school Reading records offer valuable information Most children can probably ‘read’ but there is obviously more to just decoding. Reading challenges can involve any text types.

Times tables: Children are expected to know all of their tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4 A new national test is coming in this year Little and often is the best way to learn Lots of free apps/games available TT Rockstars, Purple Mash, Sumaze Primary Knowing the corresponding division facts is also important National test
