Year 3 Parent Information Welcome Year 3 Parent Information

Our Vision Our Cathedral is our school, our children “Having faith, beliefs, and convictions is a great thing, but your life is measured by the actions you take based upon them.” Nick Vujicic “Anything worth building cannot be built alone” Anon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6HnFuzSJdQ - Mr B has asked us to share our new School Vision. Inspirational video about the importance of perseverance and resilience – so important in Year 3 as it is such a big change. Year 2 lots of ‘with support’ statements. Year 3 more ‘independent’ statements. – More responsibility for their possesions, actions, homework. Our Cathedral is our school, our children

Our Vision Where we Learn Together, Grow Together, Achieve Together, knowing that Jesus said: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit." John 15:5   At Silverstone CE Primary we aim to nurture the talents and aspirations of our school community, developing the qualities of self-confidence, responsibility, compassion, determination to enable everyone to be the best they can be and to flourish in an ever-changing world.

Staffing Mr Collins – Class Teacher Miss Jessett – Class Teacher Mr Smith – Year 3 TA (Working 1-1 and across both classes) Mrs Mills – PPA Cover (All day Wednesday for Miss Jessett) Ms Buchanan – PPA Cover (Wednesday PM for Mr Collins)

Routines and Expectations Start of the day Doors will be open, at 8:45am. Your child will have a morning activity to complete (This is to encourage independence) Opportunity for quick messages Leave a note – can get back to you at a convenient time of the day End of the day Children handed over to known adult Go to relevant club/after school club

Routines and Expectations Reading books Children will have the opportunity to change books most days. We endeavour to listen to every child and have parent helpers to support us with this. Reading record book needs to be in school every day (placed in folder on side) – passwords for AR, TTR, Professor Assessor. Resources PE kit – every day (PE on Tuesday and Wednesday PM) Children can bring a pencil case but will be informed when they can use it. For potentially ‘messy’ Art and DT activities you may wish to send an old, oversized shirt for your child to wear. Passwords can be used at home to access TTR and occasionally Prof for homework. PE kit can be worn if caught in the rain or falling over in the mud.

Routines and Expectations Positive behaviour Praise positive behaviour ‘Brag Tags’ Praise Postcards Clear communication with parents House points Celebration assembly – Pupil of the Week Awards from outside handed in on Thursday – presented if time - Parents come in on a Friday (after school) if children want to show off work, tags etc.

Routines and Expectations Homework Maths/English homework set on Thursday due in on Tuesday Spelling homework set on Wednesday due in on Monday 10 minutes daily reading 10 minutes daily TT Rockstars High standard of presentation – same as in school – information stuck in front of their green homework book Use a pencil for all aspects of homework – no pens (even for colouring)

Organisation Children may be grouped but this will be fluid/changeable. PE – currently as a year group due to numbers. Topic –children may work in groups across the year group for projects. Whole year ukulele lessons (10 weeks) Handwriting – whole year lessons with Miss Howard on a Wednesday afternoon.

Autumn Term Topic Stone Age. Focused English topic to engage – The Stone Age Boy. Links to Art, DT, History, Geography.
