Career Ready is a national charity that links schools with employers – preparing young people for the world of work. A growing movement of Local Authorities, schools and employers working in partnership Two year programme during S5 & S6 (or subsequent destination) serving a targeted group of students with social mobility at its heart: Targeted group of young people – the programme aims to boost their social mobility Have the desire to raise their academic achievement and social abilities Have limited access to wider professional networks and role models from the world of work Would value opportunities to develop their workplace skills skills and attitudes Would benefit from additional support with how they approach their school work Might be the first in their family to consider an apprenticeship, further of higher education Are unclear or lack confidence about their future career path Are willing to commit to the full programme

Next steps Log on to the Career Ready platform and check out your students details once your PVG is cleared (Name, school, answers to registration question) Meet student at Launch Event (agenda 1) Meet student at in-school (agenda 2) Set up post October meeting dates in your workplace At first one to one meeting discuss the Skills for Career Success survey ratings with them for the first time (agenda 3) Use the agendas in your Mentor Handbook Look after your own mentoring development Enjoy Thank you

After you have been matched to your student you should see your student’s registration form, provided your PVG check is complete. Some mentors may experience cache issues which hides their student’s application form from view To resolve: Log into the Career Ready platform On the dashboard, the drop down menu ‘programme starting’ should be at ‘2019’ Choose ‘2018’ and allow the system to load Choose ‘2019’ and allow the system to load This will refresh your cache and your student’s name should appear on the dashboard
