VEGETERIANISM AS A LIFESTYLE

Thus vegetarianism is a mode of nutrition in which a person does not consume meat, poultry, fish or other seafood. But usually vegetarianism is more than just a diet. Often it becomes a lifestyle.

Reasons for vegetarianism: ● Ethical - people do not want to be related to the suffering and death of living creatures.

●Economical : People who have become vegetarians for economic reasons share the view that meat consumption is economically unjustifiable, take into account high prices for meat products, making it useless for the fight against hunger in the world.

● The use of antibiotics for animals on livestock farms in Europe and America is a source of water pollution.

Pros:  ● Large-scale research has shown that deaths from coronary heart disease in vegetarian are 20-30% lower than those who consume meat. It is associated with a lower level of fats and cholesterol in the blood of vegetarians.

● Vegetarians have a lower incidence of cancer ● Vegetarians have a lower incidence of cancer. Fruits and vegetables contain a complex mixture of substances that act as active antioxidants.

● The beauty of the skin and hair ● The beauty of the skin and hair. Fruits and vegetables are a rich source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are necessary for the normal functioning of all body systems. In addition, antioxidants contained in plant food, remove harmful toxins from the body.

Cons:  ● The consumption of a large amount of plant food leads to a deficiency of folic acid, as well as vitamin B12, directly into the blood plasma.

● Vegetarianism often increases concentration of homocysteine amino acid which provoke the development of thrombosis.

● Increased fatigue (due to reduced levels of iron)

Elements that are a part of the vegetarian`s diet: ● Proteins Elements that are a part of the vegetarian`s diet:   ● Proteins. Food of plant origin can provide the body with proteins. However, for this purpose it is necessary to maximally diversify the diet with whole grains and seeds, nuts and beans. Harvard University staff scientists have confirmed that compliance with vegetarianism provides a sufficient level of protein intake.

• Calcium. Dark green leafy vegetables, including broccoli, Chinese cabbage, can satisfy the body's need in this element. In addition, calcium is present in figs, soy beans and almonds.

• Vitamin B12. Unfortunately, the reserves of this vitamin are compensated only with the help of special dietary supplements.

● ω-3 unsaturated fatty acids ● ω-3 unsaturated fatty acids. For vegetarians, the source of ω-3 fatty acids may be flaxseed, soybean, walnuts, avocado and canola oil.

Bill Pearl. The legend of bodybuilding, the four-time winner of the "Master Universe" title, the vegetarian Bill Pearl believed that by giving up meat he would gain more muscle mass much faster. He says:” There is no magic in the meat that would turn you into a champion! Everything you are looking for in a piece of meat can easily be found in any other products’’.
