Washington State Ferries Fleet Electrification The 2040 Plan Aging infrastructure Overburdened fleet Increased demand 13 total to be replaced 16 new vessels expected 5 newbuilds contracted (Olympic class) 50% to be built in a PNW yard Terminal modifications WSF operates the largest ferry system in the world. 24.5 million passengers in 2017, expected growth to 32 million by 2040. Growth plan expected to give ferries a lifespan of 50-60 years Currently contracted 5 newbuilds electric hybrid Olympic Class (likely 7 years construction) Long term goal, 10 more vessels Terminal needs: Paint, charging infrastructure, technical needs, fare structure and collection modules www.innovasjonnorge.no
