Presentation transcript:

Year 5- Kestrels Home Challenges Homework READING- Children are expected to read everyday. Please ensure these are returned daily with any letters/ notes inside. These will be checked daily. We would like to see that children have read for a minimum of 3 recorded days in their contact books. Please write in when you read with your child or your child can also write in their record book themselves. SPELLINGS- These will go home termly. Spelling test will take place on a Friday. They will be based on the expected spelling list for Year 5 as well as common misspelt homophones. The meaning of the words should also be learnt, as tests will involve the use of the word in a sentence. MATHS/GPAS Homework- We will be using the CGP workbooks for homework. There is a record sheet attached to the inside of both workbooks. Homework will be set on Tuesdays and needs to be returned by the following Monday. Please sign the record to show you have seen their homework and go through the answers with your child. Below are some homework challenges that are OPTIONAL. Children are not expected to complete these but can if they wish. Please send in any completed challenges to share! These are only ideas. The challenges are linked to our topic and science work this term. Wilmington Survey Create a survey for people who you know live in Wilmington to find out about the local history. Wilmington Map Draw your own map of Wilmington and label using map symbols. Poem Take a walk around Wilmington and take time to stop, listen and observe. Write a poem inspired by what you see and hear. Life Cycle What is the life cycle of your pet? Can you display it in an interesting way? Present your findings. David Attenborough Write a biography showing the life and achievements of Sir David Attenborough. Observations Take a walk in a forest, wood, park or heath etc… and record how many living things you can find along the way.
