Physical Education in Czech Republic Physical Education (Sports) is one of the components of education. In schools, physical education is a compulsory subject in the range from two to three hours a week . In the sports schools of course more. The two leading sports in the Czech Republic are football and ice hockey, both drawing the largest attention of both the media and supporters. Sport is a source of strong waves of patriotism, usually rising several days or weeks before an event and sinking several days after.

Footbal clubs In domestic football, the Czech First League is the top-level in the Czech football league system. The most successful clubs are the two capital-based sides Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague. For a long time, Sparta Prague has supplied the national team with players such as Libor Sionko, Jaromír Blažek, Zdeněk Grygera, and Tomáš Rosický. Sparta Prague has been a regular participant in the UEFA Champions League, and recently also joined FC Viktoria Plzeň and Slavia Prague.

Ice hockey The Czech national team is one of the top teams in the world, regularly competing in the World Championship, the Winter Olympic Games and the Euro Hockey Tour. The national team captured their first Olympic Gold at the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano. From 1996 to 2001, the Czech Republic won six World Championship medals, including three consecutive gold from 1999 to 2001. Prominent Czech players include Jaromír Jágr, Dominik Hašek, Patrik Eliáš, Aleš Hemský, Tomáš Kaberle, Milan Michálek and Robert Lang, who captained the 2006 Olympic team to a bronze medal. The team last won gold at the 2010 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships.

4. Fans and forms of supporting idols and teams The events considered the most important by Czech fans are: the Ice Hockey World Championship, the Olympic ice hockey tournament, the European football championship, the football World Cup and qualification matches for such events. In general, any international match involving the Czech ice hockey or football national team draws attention, especially when played against a traditional rival: Germany in football; Russia, Finland, Sweden and Canada in ice hockey; and Slovakia in both. Both summer and winter Olympic games are also very popular.

Gymnast Vera Čáslavská has seven Olympic gold medals (3 in 1964, 4 in 1968), the legendary runner Emil Zatopek has four (1x in 1948, 3 in 1952), three gold are javelin thrower Jan Zelezny (1992, 1996, 2000) and rychlobruslařka Martina Sablikova (2x 2010 , 1 2014). Věra Čáslavská Věra Čáslavská (3 May 1942 – 30 August 2016) was a Czechoslovakian artistic gymnast and Czech sports official. Attractive, cheerful and possessing impressive stage presence, she was popular with the general public and won a total of 22 international titles between 1959 and 1968 including seven Olympic gold medals, four World titles and eleven European championships.

Emil Zátopek Emil Zátopek- ( 19 September 1922 – 22 November 2000) was a Czechoslovak long-distance runner best known for winning three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He won gold in the 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres runs, but his final medal came when he decided at the last minute to compete in the first marathon of his life.[1] He was nicknamed the "Czech Locomotive".

Martina Sáblíková Martina Sáblíková (born 27 May 1987) is a Czech speed skater, specializing in long distance races. She is an Olympic gold medal winner and a multiple European and World allround champion. She became the first Czech to win two Olympic gold medals at one Winter Games in the 2010 Olympiad. Sáblíková also competes in inline speed skating and road cycling races as a part of her summer preparation for the skating season.

Martin Doktor Martin Doktor (born 21 May 1974 in Polička, Czechoslovakia) is the Czech Republic's best-known sprint canoeist. He was double Olympic champion in the Canadian canoe C-1 discipline at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. During the 1996 games, his mother cooked knedliky (Dumplings in (Czech)), using dozens of kg of flour brought over from the Czech Republic.

Martina Navrátilová Martina Navratilova( born October 18, 1956) is a retired Czech and American tennis player and coach. In 2005, Tennis magazine selected her as the greatest female tennis player for the years 1965 through 2005. Navratilova was World No. 1 for a total of 332 weeks in singles, and a record 237 weeks in doubles, making her the only player in history to have held the top spot in both singles and doubles for over 200 weeks. She was year-end singles No. 1 seven times, including a record five consecutive years, as well as year-end doubles No. 1 five times, including three consecutive years during which she held the ranking for the entire year.

Jaromír Jágr Jaromír Jágr (born February 15, 1972) is a Czech professional ice hockey right winger currently playing for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has formerly played in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils, serving as captain of the Penguins and the Rangers. After leaving the Rangers, he played for three seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Avangard Omsk before returning to the NHL with the Flyers.

Petr Čech Petr Čech (Czech pronunciation: [ˈpɛtr̩ ˈt͡ʃɛx] ( listen); born 20 May 1982) is a Czech professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Arsenal. He is the former captain for the Czech Republic national team. Čech has previously played for Chmel Blšany, Sparta Prague, Rennes and Chelsea. He is the most capped player in the history of the Czech national team with 124 caps, and represented the country at the 2006 World Cup, as well as the 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 European Championships. He was voted into the Euro 2004 all-star team after helping the Czechs reach the semi-finals. Čech also received the individual award of Best Goalkeeper in the 2004–05, 2006–07 and 2007–08 seasons of the UEFA Champions League. In addition, he was named in the FIFPro and UEFA Champions League team of the season in 2006. He is considered to be one of the greatest and most respected goalkeepers of his generation.[

Dominik Hašek Dominik Hašek (born January 29, 1965) is a retired Czech ice hockey goaltender. In his 16-season National Hockey League (NHL) career, he played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators. During his years in Buffalo, he became one of the league's finest goaltenders, earning him the nickname "The Dominator". His strong play has been credited with establishing European goaltenders in a league previously dominated by North Americans. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, both with the Red Wings.

Clubs in our region SK Sigma Olomouc is a Czech football club from the city of Olomouc. The club currently plays in the Synot Liga, the first tier of Czech football. The club played in the first tier league for 30 years between 1984 and 2014, winning the Czech Cup and Czech Supercup in 2012. Being relegated to Czech 2. Liga in 2014, the club managed to win the league the subsequent season and got a promotion back to Synot Liga in 2015. HC Olomouc is an ice hockey team in the Czech Extraliga (first-level league) from Olomouc. They won the Extraliga championship in the 1993/1994 season. In 1997 the club sold the Extraliga license to HC Karlovy Vary, and was thus relegated to the second-level league.
