Common equivalents that you should learn Key words and definitions Fraction – A quantity which is not a whole number. Decimal – A decimal number is often used to mean a number that uses a decimal point followed by digits that show a value smaller than one. Percentage – Amount out of one hundred. Improper fraction - The numerator is larger than the denominator. Mixed Number – A whole number and a fraction together. Equivalent – When 2 amounts are equal they are equivalent Numerator - The top number of a fraction. Denominator - The bottom number of a fraction.
