In regulating and managing the provision of sport and recreation facilities, an allocation of R33.5 million over the medium term Inception of the ring-fenced MIG sport infrastructure grant in 2016/17 116 projects, located in 112 local municipalities throughout the country. 97% identified by municipalities and their respective communities during IDP process 2 of the 2019/20 facilities: refurbishment of tennis precinct at the Mmabatho Stadium in Mahikeng and construction of a new Softball Diamond Stadium in Polokwane at Peter Mokaba sport precinct, allocated R20 Million and R30 Million respectively. Community outdoor gyms and children play parks in the recreational spaces created by municipalities (R12 million ) Multi-purpose sports courts and other infrastructure projects to improve access to s & r activities – Sports Trust (R24 million to build 10)

Financial support by corporate in sport development is still an area that requires more attention The current economic situation in South Africa is a threat to broad support of grassroots sport by the private sector Support is varied according to the popularity of a sport code Efforts also being made at provincial and municipal level Support of a code at national level has effect at grassroots level. The national athletes go back to benefit their local teams.
