Why do we read? Your teachers have been asked why they enjoy reading WHat do you think was the most common answer?

ESCAPISM “I love reading as it takes me to worlds and place that do not exist and i would not otherwise have the chance to ‘visit’ “ “Reading helps me explore worlds that I will never have a chance to visit” “Why do I like reading - escapism” “I love reading because it is an escape. I can explore worlds i have never visited; meet characters I have never encountered; participate in events I have never experienced.” “Bit of escapism, also read before bed to help relax and fall off to sleep.”

Why else do we read? “I love reading to my daughters and getting them interested in reading” “I like reading because it makes me calm and relaxed when I am feeling stressed and emotional” “so I can read in depth about all the football, rugby, boxing and sports results -I also love being able to express myself with a wider range of vocabulary.” “I love reading to learn more about the things which interest me” “I like reading because it awakens my imagination and inspires me to think about the world from different perspectives” “I love reading fiction that takes the reader to past times, other places or cultures I know little about”
