Thursday, September 12th HW: Read pages 629 – 634 in your text. Answer questions 5 and 9. Due tomorrow!!! Aim: How did the Enlightenment challenge absolutism? Do Now: List at least 3 key words/phrases you associate with the word ‘Enlightenment’.

Enlightenment: an 18th century European movement in which thinkers attempted to apply the principles of reason and the scientific method to all aspects of society.

Enlightenment Posters Send one person to the front to get a poster and markers. Decide which role each group member will play in the project. Writer: write philosopher’s name at the top and ideas at the bottom. Artist: trace and cut out a symbol that represents the philosopher’s ideas. Presenter: present poster to the class. Recorder: record group’s response on graphic organizer.
