Social Diversity and Differentiated Schooling Chapter Four

Diversity Diversity may focus on the following: race, religious beliefs, language, class, and gender. If you were to look around right now you would see the diversity we have in the class. We come with different backgrounds, sets of experiences, cultural, and world views.

Diversity in MS high schools •Southaven High School: 59% •Lake Cormorant High School: 56% •Olive Branch High School: 56% •Center Hill High School: 55%

How does diversity affect the classroom? Issues of diversity play a role in how students and teachers view the importance of the classroom and what should happen there. For example, assumptions about what a typical student should know, the resources they have and their prior knowledge are extremely important.

Teachers from “Business Insider” share how education has changed •Technology •Common Core

What do you think about the diversity in today’s world? What do you think about the education changing over time?
