Your Investment At Work An Introduction to Your United Methodist Men Foundation

Foundation History Founded in 1981 by the National Association of Conference Presidents. Originally created to support the office of United Methodist Scouting Ministries. Later adding the Upper Room Prayer Ministries and the Ministry to Men through the General Commission on United Methodist Men.

Mission Statement Our Mission is to provide financial support for evangelism, mission and spiritual life ministries to men and youth in the United Methodist Church through endowed funds.

Vision Statement Our vision is to provide support for United Methodist Men’s ministries in order to declare the centrality of Christ in every man’s life.

Who Do We Support Scouting and Youth through the office of Scouting Ministries. Staff in that office currently include Steven Scheid, Director and Marc Stowe, assistant.

Who Do We Support We are the second largest charter organization of Boy Scouts in the world and the largest charter sponsor of Cub Scouts in the world.

Who Do We Support Men’s Ministries through the General Commission on United Methodist Men.

Who Do We Support The Foundation has taken on a new funding role by supporting the office of the Director of Men’s Ministry. This position was vacant for several years but has been filled by the Rev. Dr. Rick Vance.

Who Do We Support The Foundation will continue to look for new and innovative ways to fund men’s ministries with a goal of impacting men at every level of the church.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Legacy Builders

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The first giving method is through the Legacy Builders program. Legacy Builders was introduced at the 2005 National Gathering.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Legacy Builders is an extension of the EMS, Every Man Shares in Evangelism, Mission and Spiritual Life program.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The Legacy Builders program makes the challenge to go beyond the basic $45 annual investment.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The Legacy Builders/Foundation connection begins when the investment exceeds $120 per year. The General Commission receives the first $120. Pledges exceeding $120 are invested with the Foundation.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation So, if you make an investment of $300 or $3,000, the General Commission retains the first $120, the remainder is invested with the Foundation.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Life Achievement

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Life Achievement is an honorary recognition available to local churches, districts, conferences, jurisdictions and national organizations.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The contribution for a Life Achievement Award is $250. All funds received from Life Membership awards are used to support the ministries of United Methodist Men Foundation.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The recipient of a Life Achievement Award receives an attractive Life Achievement membership certificate, and a Life Achievement lapel pin.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The Society of John Wesley

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The Society of John Wesley is a fellowship of individuals committed to the support and expansion of United Methodist Men's ministries.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The John Wesley Fellowship is generally recognized as the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an individual.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation There are two ways a person can become a fellow in the Society of John Wesley.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Join the society by personally making a $1000 gift to the foundation.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Recognize someone who has given Christian leadership to the ministry of the United Methodist Church with a $1000 honorarium. Friends of the honoree will make contributions to recognize the recipient’s servant leadership.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Each John Wesley Fellow will receive an embossed plaque and a lapel pin provided by the United Methodist Men Foundation.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Society of John Wesley Plus Program

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The John Wesley Fellow Plus program’s goal is to encourage men to step beyond their current $1,000 gift or honorarium.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The John Wesley Fellow Plus program will focus on monthly and annual gifts in increments adding up to $1,000.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The John Wesley Fellow Plus program will have no limit on the multiple $1000 gifts given.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The recognition for the John Wesley Fellow Plus program is still being developed.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation United Methodist Men Foundation Heritage Society

Ways We Fund Our Foundation The Heritage Society is an additional opportunity to support the foundation through planned gifts. Some popular ways include wills, life insurance policies, charitable gift annuities, and charitable endowments.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation Planned gifts offer donors a unique opportunity to leave a legacy, one that will provide for the continuation and growth of the ministries the foundation supports.

Ways We Fund Our Foundation You can start an endowment with an investment as small as $1000. It will be your choice to name that endowment to honor someone or name it after yourself it’s up to you.
