Baseline preamp (as in beam test) Test pulser to simulate MCP-PMT iTOP new preamp update G. Visser / IU July 12th 2013 Baseline preamp (as in beam test) Test pulser to simulate MCP-PMT Candidate new preamp Dusted off old pulser from STAR MAPMT work. Fast, clean pulse from a simple and low cost circuit. Include similar circuit in new carrier board to pulse through the preamp. Note DC coupled

Prototype measurements Looks pretty good, on average. Unfortunately, average isn’t good enough. Oscillation problem ought to be solvable (probably a layout/bypassing issue with the prototype). A few day’s effort needed. input output
iTOP HVB & front board update Front board: Finally getting through to Mill-Max about a small customization of the pin body to reduce required insertion depth of mating pin. Quote is in process, asking for 500-1000 each with the #32 and #35 (extra low force) contacts. Will order immediately. Once pins are definitely on order, will design & order test front board (to validate the “thick board blind hole” concept). HVB: Got detailed info and preliminary quote from vendor (Plasma Ruggedized Solutions). They propose to pot using an external mold, and one of their proprietary epoxy formulations http://www.plasmarugged.com/uploads/pdfs/KRYPTOS%20TDS-Revised%2012-05-2012_M.pdf . Quote is $1250 NRE + $250 min lot (gets us ~6 units), and $36.40 ea @ qty 100. Of course, price will change slightly with details of our design tbd. I think it is affordable and we should pursue this.
