Presentation transcript:

MSc. Placement Programme 2018/19 – Student FAQs Will I get paid on my placement? You will be paid minimum living wage (roughly £7.20) per hour by your host company. Any expenses during the placement are paid at the discretion of the company. Remember you are there to ‘learn’, not ‘earn’. Working hours and terms are subject to agreement with the company. Normally, you will have a 40 hour working week. You will also require university access during work time: 1 x 45 minute call with academic supervisor weekly, 1 hour meeting with academic supervisor monthly, and use of placement experience for project dissertation. How long does the placement last? Projects will run for 10-12 weeks between the period of May to September 2019. Will the placement be based at the company? Your location during the project is at the discretion of the company. For example, you could be entirely based at the host company, at the University with agreed project meetings or a combination of the two. Can I choose the host company I want to be placed at? MBN Academy have a specific matching process that will match you with an appropriate placement opportunity depending on your skills and experience and what is involved in the project. How does it work? MBN Academy will provide you with a form to fill out detailing your placement project and location preferences MBN Academy will match your skills to a suitable project provided by host companies MBN Academy will provide you with interview and CV writing training MBN Academy will ensure both the student and host company are fully briefed on the matching process The host company will meet with matched students and select one most suited to their project MBN Academy then liaise between the selected student, host company, academic supervisor & The Data Lab to confirm the placement
