COMPUTER WEB ASSISTED BASED LANGUAGE LEARNING LEARNING

CALL AND WBL CALL AND WBL

CALL AND WBL It provides the learner an autonomy and opportunities for authentic interaction in the target language in computer-based conditions.

WBL = interactive source that increases knowledge and guarantees quality and quantity of language input and output. Is more responsive to students’ self directed learning Teaches students how to learn Stimulates learners to do things by themselves Acknowledge them of their commitment for self motivated opportunities to use the language for authentic communicative purposes.

CALL resources have supplemented English teaching in: Authenticity: Authentic materials experienced by learners. Literacy: master skills as reading, writing, communicating, researching and publishing for academic and occupational goals. Vitality: promotes a free, flexible and real communication. Empowerment: learners are autonomous and collaborative; and teachers teach how to learn and to construct new knowledge.

With CALL… A traditionally self-contained, programmed type of application where learners were exposed to tutorials, drills, simulations, instructional games, tests, and controlled practices. A more human-to-human communication type of application where learners can potentially communicate with native speakers or any other language learner all over the world on a one-to-one basis or many-to-many basis without restrictions of time or place with access to the Internet.

Group Activity Make 12 groups Read the extract that will given to your group and discuss Present to the class an explanation of the content (as a micro-class).

Aspects Development of CALL Features on WBL Advantages of WBL Disadvantages of WBL Basic components of WB course Integrated language skills through WBL Listening and Speaking Reading and Writing WBL and authenticity
