Congratulations! We were able to increase our school grade to a C! This was due to the effort put forth from each John Hopkins Middle School scholar on last year’s FSA assessments. You took it seriously!

Points of Pride to be acknowledged: On the English-Language Arts FSA: 6th grade  2nd highest increase in the number of scholars earning a level 3 or higher 7th grade  The highest (1st place) increase in the number of scholars earning a level 3 or higher 8th grade  2nd highest increase in the number of scholars earning a level 3 or higher THIS IS OUT OF 23 TOTAL MIDDLE SCHOOLS

OUR GOAL THIS YEAR We can do it! Our school-wide goal is to make John Hopkins Middle School the best school in the district and to improve our school grade even higher. We can do it!

How Can we do it? Modeling our Trojan PRIDE expectations daily: in class, in the hallways, in the cafeteria, anywhere on school campus, and in yourself. Modeling IB Learner Profile traits daily

GENERAL SCHOLAR EXPECTATIONS Arrive to all classes on time every day, ready to learn. Come to school in appropriate school uniform colors. Put away, out of sight, any electronic devices during the school day. Leave any negativity, hostility, and disrespect outside of the school grounds. Leave the RUNNING back at your previous elementary school. Model Trojan PRIDE Guidelines for Success daily.

SCHOOL UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS Tops (Shirts) – Collared shirt; solid colors: black, burgundy, or dark (hunter) green Bottoms – Pants, shorts, skirts; solid colors: khaki (tan) or navy blue khaki Shoes – Sneaker or sandal with a back; flip flops or slides prohibited

SCHOOL UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS Hoodies/Sweaters/Jackets must also be solid black, burgundy, or hunter green. Hoods are off of scholars’ heads while on campus Sunglasses and ball caps prohibited on campus (unless a doctor note on file). Bandannas and sweatbands are prohibited to wear on campus.

SCHOOL UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS Any scholar coming to school out of compliance with our School Uniform Policy will be sent to the grade level office. Personnel will attempt to contact parent / guardian for a change of clothes. Scholar will not be allowed to return to classes until they have acceptable school clothing on.

School Electronics policy Electronic devices are encouraged to be left at home to prevent them from being stolen or confiscated. If they are brought to school, they are to be silenced or turned off and out of sight during the school day.

School Electronics policy Failure to adhere to these expectations will result in the following progressive disciplinary action: 1st offense: Warning (to put item away) 2nd offense: Item confiscated (teacher or staff member to return at the end of the day). Failure to hand item to teacher results in disciplinary referral. 3rd offense: Referral written; item confiscated (parent must retrieve item from administrator) and IC remainder of class period; Failure to hand item over as directed will result in 1 day of ABS (Alternate Bell Schedule)

Possible consequences for scholar misbehavior Verbal redirection / warning issued Administrative Detention (1 hour after school) Intervention Center (IC) for one or more class periods Alternate Bell Schedule (from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) Out of School Suspension (1 – 3 days) Don’t let this be you…
