Calculator and note paper okay Shoulder: 5, 5, 55 or bony thorax? Over 15 cm bony thorax, under 15 cm either way Breathing technique? Just use lowest mA AC joints? For unilateral 40” okay. For bilateral use 72” and direct square law. Use 50% on obliques and call it a day? Fine Grid for bony thorax? Yes Processor? Is being worked on. Rich will give you progress reports Penalties for wrong technique selection: If you know the concepts penalties will be minor.

30 cm RAO sternum 60 + 35 = 95 kVp @ 25 mAs 80 kVp @ 50 mAs = 25 mA @ 2 seconds 722 x 50 / 402 = 162 mAs = 25 mA @ 6 seconds That’s 150 mAs, 12 short of 162. Not a big deal but we could kick the kVp up a couple and call It a day. This solution flies in the face of an old sternum method that probably isn’t even in your text. Or is it? Reduce kVp by 15%................. Increase SID to 72”……………..
