Limitations and improvements Good management decisions require good data Data Quality and Coverage Timeliness of data Confidentiality/ difficulties in collecting data (SSF) Harmonisation Voluntary provision of economic data Bias in fisheries dependent data Uncertainty in fisheries independent data Incorporate expertise and fishing vessels in scientific research – foster transparency, trust, credibility Improve forecast models, bioeconomic modelling Increase involvement of the fishing industry Limit requested information to what is needed Increase the use of control data Include the recreational sector, where this is a significant player Review the data collection requirements Better understanding of the motives behind fishers decsions, compliance, etc. Linkage between catching, aquaculture and processing sectors Market intercations Conduct systematic research on social aspects and incorporate market information 24 November 2019
