Five Houses Mahalo Prudentia VALIENTE DIGNATIO Caridad

Purpose The goal of Pass Christian Elementary School’s House System is to promote positive relationships, a sense of belonging and support between faculty and students, students and their peers and to give every student another caring adult to boost character education and to instill a sense of pride and excellence as a member of our Pirate Nation.

Every student and staff member will be a part of one of five houses. How will it look? Every student and staff member will be a part of one of five houses. The houses will compete weekly to earn points. Points will be awarded for different reasons throughout the year. Each classroom teacher will have 50 points to award every week. Students will earn points for demonstrating different traits in the classroom. Students may also earn points for iReady challenges, attendance, conduct, and academics.

How will it look? continued... Every week, the total points will be displayed outside of the cafeteria. The house with the most points for that week will have their flag flying for all to see. Students must earn their way to a house challenge by meeting specific behavioral expectations. Each nine weeks the house with the highest points will be recognized. The house with the highest points for the year will be rewarded with a field trip!

House Meetings House meetings will provide an opportunity for students to meet with other house members (from other classes and grade levels) in order to learn about the character traits of their house, the character traits of other houses, and participate in STREAM challenges.

YOU Don’t Choose the HOUSE, THE HOUSE Chooses YOU !

House Reveal During the first two weeks of school, the students will be introduced to the house system including the houses, the earning of points, the challenges and many other aspects of this exciting adventure! On August 23rd, the excitement will begin with the first of many fun activities. The houses will be chosen, the staff will participate in a house challenge, and the houses will experience their first meeting. Students will receive house t-shirts and bracelets to wear on Fridays throughout the year to show their house spirit.
