Survey Building – Question Types Specialty Questions Constant Sum Pick, Group, Rank Hot Spot Heat Map Drill Down Net Promoter ScoreTM Highlight Signature Advanced Timing Meta Info Captcha

Static Questions – Descriptive Text Allows you to place text with no response required. Can be used to ask the survey responder to read a statement, agree to survey terms, etc. (can use Captcha functionality as well)

Static Questions – Graphics Allows you to place a graphic with no answer required. Can be used to show an image that a number of following questions are based on.

Static Questions – Advanced Descriptive Text With knowledge and use of html and web scripting, can also be used to provide descriptive web content, such as embedded YouTube videos, etc.

Advanced - Timing Use timing functionality to force respondent to remain on question for a set period of time. The timer can either be hidden or shown to the respondent.

Standard Questions – Multiple Choice From simple single answer to multiple answer, dropdown, select box and multi-select box.

Standard Questions – Text Entry From simple 1-line text entry to multi-line, essay box, customizable forms and password entry.

Standard Questions – Matrix Tables Typically used with Likert scales to assess multiple statements related to a topic. Note: number of statements and number of scale points is customizable

Standard Questions - Slider Sliders can be used in situations when you want the respondent to actively and visually enter values with continuous ranges. Note: can also use bars or stars instead of slider; can change values on grid.

Standard Questions – Rank Order Used primarily when you require respondents to place items in ranked order (e.g., of importance, difficulty, etc.) Note: can also use radio buttons, text entry boxes or a select box to show ranked order.

Standard Questions – Side by Side Typically used when you have multiple topics you wish to gather regarding multiple statements. Note: number of columns (topics) and number of items within each topic are customizable

Specialty Questions – Constant Sum Used when you wish to force or encourage respondents to add weightings to their responses. Note: option to force or suggest a total is available

Specialty Questions – Pick, Group, Rank Allows the respondent to place items into groups and then rank those items within each group. Note: number of items, groups customizable.

Specialty Questions – Hot Spot Can be used to gain respondent feedback on areas of an image (selected by surveyor) that respondent can place in a category (e.g., good or bad, etc.) Note: box placement, visibility are customizable, click options can be click one/twice/off or on/off)

Specialty Questions – Heat Map Can be used for respondent to show which parts of the image are of interest to them, etc. Respondent controls where they can click and select. Note: number of clicks (and therefore dots) is customizable

Specialty Questions – Drill Down Can be used when there are multi- levels of items that you require respondents to select. Note: data file can be imported that contains all of the options for the different dropdown categories

Specialty Questions – Net Promoter ScoreTM Tool that can be used to gauge the loyalty of an organization’s customer relationships. Tool aims to measure the loyalty that exists between a provider and a consumer. Standard reporting tool indicates if overall respondents are detractors, neutral or promoters.

Specialty Questions - Highlight Allows respondents to highlight words or terms based on descriptions by selecting the term and choosing one of the provided descriptors. Note: words/terms and descriptors (including number of) and colour schemes are customizable.

Specialty Questions - Signature Allows respondent to provide online signature (either using touchscreen or mouse). Useful for proving acceptance of terms and conditions.

Advanced – Meta Info Qualtrics can record meta info about the respondents browser, operating system, etc.

Survey Building – Piped Text Qualtrics allows you to use responses from previous questions in the text of later questions.

Survey Building – Skip Logic Qualtrics allows you to move to another part of the survey, or end the survey depending on responses to survey items.

Survey Building – Display Logic Qualtrics allows you to display questions or answers only if specific conditions are met.

Survey Building – Carry Forward Qualtrics allows you to carry forward responses from earlier questions as either statements and/or survey items (e.g., scale points, etc.)

Survey Analysis and Reports Qualtrics can produce applicable graphs, charts and images for individual survey questions/responses.
