Weekly Questions Format For 20th Century World History

More info about these types of questions to come later Units are broken down into weeks and themes. 18 weeks = 7 Units The World of 1919, Promise and Collapse, etc. For each week there will be a series of questions which include : Essential Questions Inquiry Essay Questions More info about these types of questions to come later

Questions: How to do them properly ALL questions MUST BE written in PEN (blue or black), (dark) PENCIL, or TYPED on the COMPUTER. READINGS (TEXTS, PPTS, NOTES) MUST BE COMPLETED to gain full understanding of the topic at hand in order to be successful on weekly questions and discussions.

Questions: How to do them properly Use DATES + DETAILS/SPECIFICS & MAKE CONNECTIONS between the questions and the context/topic = BACK UP YOUR CLAIMS WITH EVIDENCE. Understand the COMMAND TERM. Recognize the CONTEXT/TOPIC we are focussed on.

Questions: How to do them properly Use CRITICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING SKILLS (HISTORICAL THINKING) to respond to all questions. Share and express your IDEAS AND UNDERSTANDINGS effectively for all questions via written and verbal COMMUNICATION.

Questions: How to do them properly The following format is the PROPER way to complete your Essential + Inquiry Questions: Make sure you indicate in your title which week you are addressing (i.e. Week One Essential Questions) + put your name on all your assignments.

Essential Questions: How to respond In proper paragraph format (8-10 sentences) using complete sentences; typed or written in pen/pencil. Address the entire subject matter that the questions asks you.

Essential Questions: How to respond Use details/specifics/dates/language of the course + make connections/realize the context. Be sure you understand the question(s) + the command term(s)/historical thinking concept(s) – see additional handouts.

Inquiry Questions: How To Respond Make sure you indicate in your WEEKLY HEADING which week you are addressing (i.e. Week One Inquiry Essay Questions) + give your essay an appropriate & intriguing TITLE + add your name.

Inquiry Questions: How To Respond In proper essay format (when indicated) using four or five paragraphs with evidence from the course content, an original title, an introduction, thesis (in the proper places in introduction + conclusion), body paragraphs, and conclusion (see additional handout).

Inquiry Questions: How To Respond Otherwise, when instructed, the Inquiry Essay Questions may be done thoroughly in point form (but not with single words or general answers = details must be included). Use proper mechanics (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.), type or write in pen/pencil, preferably double-spaced.

Inquiry Questions: How To Respond Address the entire subject matter that the questions asks you – use details/specifics/ dates/terminology of the course. Make sure you understand what the command term/historical thinking concept is asking you to do with the question and take into account the context.

Intro: Start with an attention grabber, then speak to the topic, finally state your thesis (the LAST sentence in your intro). Thesis: There are several social, economic, and political consequences of WWI on the post-war world. 3+ Body Paragraphs with topic sentence + evidence. . . Conclusion (thesis is the FIRST sentence) . . .

TAKE NOTE Remember to use your own words and do your own work - do not copy others work (plagiarism = 0) Working together in class does not mean that your answers will be exactly the same = write in your own words = no one’s work should exactly resemble another persons!

Questions: How To Hand Them In! ALL questions must be printed out in hard copy (paper) format with your name on it. No emailed Essential or Inquiry Qs will be accepted. You will usually have a few days or up to a week to complete your questions/essays.

Questions: How To Hand Them In! Hand in your Essential or Inquiry questions in on the due date. At times, Essential or Inquiry Questions will be addressed in Roundtable Discussion Seminars, yet you will still be expected to prepare the questions + hand your work in. In addition, there are moments where we will do the questions as a class.
