How to use the snipping tool

Find the “snipping tool” At the taskbar on the bottom left of the screen, you should see a magnifying glass and a search box…type “snipping tool” into the search box and press Enter. If this does not bring up the “Snipping Tool” app, try to search for “Snip & Sketch”. When you find either of these, click to open.

Using “Snipping Tool” Click “New” on the top left of the menu bar, but make sure what you want to copy is already pulled up and ready to be copied. (Once the “new” has been selected, you will only be able to “snip” from what you see on the screen; you will not be able to change windows unless you close the new snip.) Everything on your screen will kind of fade and a crosshair icon should appear. The default is to “snip” a rectangle around what you want to copy. Click at one corner of where you want to copy and drag to “snip” a rectangle around everything you want to copy. A new window with your “snip” pops up. If you like what is snipped, then click “Copy” from the menu and then paste into your PowerPoint or document. If you don’t like what is snipped, click “new” and try again.

Using “Snip & Sketch” Click “New” to “snip” something that is currently on the screen. You can use the drop down arrow to select a time delay if you need to change the most visible window. A crosshair icon should show up and your screen should darken; the default is to select your “snip” in a rectangle and as you click and drag, it will brighten what you are actually “snipping”. You do not have to select “Copy”; it is already available for you to paste into your PowerPoint or document.
