English Our first key text is The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. The children will learn to tell a story through a series of letters. During the second unit the children will read a persuasive letter written by the RSPB to inspire writing their own persuasive text. Religious Education Through our RE lessons we will be answering; Why do Christians make promises in marriage? Maths This half term the children will develop skills in; number and place value (e.g Round any number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000) and addition and subtraction. Character Curriculum This term we will be exploring the virtues of caring for our environment, cooperation and teamwork and helpfulness in our class. Daily Mile The aim of The Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children. Children are physically active (run, jog or walk) for 15 mins a day. Year 4 Autumn Term 1 Topic: Romans Roar and Sparks Fly! Big Question: Were the Romans Brutes or Brilliant? Wow Start: Class Mosaics Fantastic finish: Showcase Thursday 18th October 2pm in the Hall – See you there! STEM Sparks will fly this half term through our exploration of Electricity. We will investigate how to complete circuits, use electrical symbols and understand electrical safety. Our STEM day, will allow us to design and make an interactive quiz which includes an electrical circuit. You will be able to play our games at our Showcase at the end of this half-term. Topic We are diving into the history of The Romans, when and where they came from and the impact that their civilisation had on Britain. We will visit Fishbourne Roman Palace in October to enrich our learning. Music and Art will be woven through the topic. P.E Our sport focus which will culminate in an inter-house competition is Football. Our scheme REAL PE focus is ‘Personal Skills and Challenges’.
