Welcome to Back to School Night Mrs. Kent Mrs. Weyandt

Behavior Be Respectful Enter and leave the room quietly. Raise your hand and wait to be called upon. Listen respectfully to the teacher and to other students without interrupting. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Say “please” and “thank you.”      Be Responsible Place personal property where your teacher directs. Do not touch other people’s property. Follow directions. Come to school every day, on time, with your homework completed to the best of your ability. Be Safe Walk. Keep walkways clear. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Get permission before leaving your seat or the room. Be Your Best!

Schedule/Rotations 7:52-8:15 Breakfast in the Classroom 8:15-10:00 Language Arts/ELD 10:00-10:20 RECESS 10:20-11:15 Math 11:15-12:15 Rotations Science – Mrs. Weyandt Social Studies – Mrs. Kent Art/Health – Mrs. Kent and Mrs. Weyandt 12:20-1:00 LUNCH 1:00-1:30 Depends on Teacher 1:30-2:15 P.E. (may change time, due to weather) Additionally we have Library, Computer Lab, Ballroom Dance, and PE rotations.

Grades 4 Student is proficient at standards and goes above 95-100% For elementary schools, LAUSD uses a 4-3-2-1 grading scale. The fifth-grade breakdown is as follows: 4 Student is proficient at standards and goes above 95-100% 3 Student is proficient at standards 71-94% 2 Student is partially proficient at standards 55-70% 1 Student is not proficient at standards below 55%

Example of Scoring from LAUSD Scoring Guide Algebra and Functions 4 – Advanced, when the student Uses variables in simple expressions accurately, computes the value of the expression for specific values of the variable correctly, and plots and interprets the results clearly. 3 – Proficient (meets grade level), when the student Uses variables in simple expressions, computes the values of the expression for specific values of the variable, and plots and interprets the results. 2 – Partially Proficient, when the student Uses some variables in simple expressions, computes some values of the expression for specific values of the variable, and plots and interprets some of the results but incorrectly. 1 – Not Proficient when the student Uses few, if any, variables in simple expressions, computes few, if any, values of the expression for specific values of the variable, and plots and interprets few, if any, the results.

Homework Policy Homework Assigned Monday - Thursday Students receive Language Arts and Math daily. Monday - Friday Science, Social Studies, Health, and Art assigned on day of class. Due the following day/class If missed, work can be completed at recess. Student receives a check on behavior log if not done. Long Term Projects assigned throughout the year.

Use study guide Make flashcards Practice quizzes Assist your child in studying *Use websites to get more ideas for strategies to study.
