We are the Kiwanis Family

Kiwanis Family Relations Kiwanis Family consists of the various branches of Kiwanis International. It consists of of K-Kids, Builders Club, Key Club, Circle K, Kiwanis, and Aktion Club. Make sure to specify that K-Kids is the elementary version, Builders Club is the middle school version, Key Club is high school, etc.

K-Kids

K-Kids K-Kids is Kiwanis for elementary school children. It is part of the Kiwanis Kids Program, which includes: -Bringing Up Grades and Terrific Kids. Part of our initiative this year is to get more Key Clubs to sponsor a K-Kids. They are very self-sufficient and extremely service-oriented! Make sure to note that the Kiwanis Kids programs (Bringing up grades and Terrific Kids) aim to develop a child’s leadership and scholarly skills.

K-Kids Cont. Objectives: -To provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community; -To develop leadership potential; -To foster development of a strong, moral character; -To encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation

K-Kids Cont. What’s so great about being a Co-Sponsor anyways? When your Key Club co-sponsors a K-Kids Club you become a role model and mentor to the K-Kids Club. Your guidance to the K-Kids will in turn help with the longevity of your own Key Club, if the K-Kids you co-sponsor is at an elementary school that eventually feeds into your high school. Once those K-Kids enter high school before establishing a K-Kids Club make sure that a Builder’s Club is established at the “feeder” middle school, that way you don’t leave any gaps in the K-Family. Try to add your own personal experiences with working with K-Kids. People love to hear personal stories!

Builders Club

Builders Club Objective: This is the middle school version of Kiwanis's Service Leadership Programs. Objective: -To develop competent, capable, caring leaders through the vehicle of service. You can do a variety of fun service projects with Builders Club members such as planting trees, cleaning up a park, organizing a car wash, and much more! Again add your own personal stories to make a connection.

Builder’s Club How to Charter a club: The best way to start and work with a Builders Club is to talk with your Kiwanis Club to see if they are willing to co-sponsor with you. Aim for starting a club at your “feeder” middle schools (meaning the school that “feeds” into your high school). Then, meet with their Principal and find a Faculty Advisor. Once you have those steps make sure they know the bylaws, hold elections, and charter the club! Be sure to mention the “How to Charter a K-Kids/Builders Club” power point on the Kiwanis Family Relations Page on our website!

Builder’s Club Cont. Once you get started… After starting or chartering a Builders Club start helping them with service and, even invite them to help with your Key Club’s projects. The aim of Builders club is to develop sound, moral values for students to develop throughout their middle school years. Also, get them excited about Key Club!! As middle school students, they have a few years to be in Builders Club, then it’s off to high school! Always encourage them to join Key Club!

Circle K International

Circle K International --Circle K is Collegiate Kiwanis, or Kiwanis for college students --If you plan on attending college, plan on attending Circle K! Here, you will make lifelong friends and participate in projects around the world. Circle K goes much farther than the college campus Again personal stories!

Aktion Club

Aktion Club --Aktion Club is Kiwanis for disabled or mentally challenged adults. --There are relatively few Aktion Clubs throughout our Florida District. --However, they are great to work with, and to do projects with! Many people find that working with an Aktion club to be motivational and inspiring. Personal Stories!

Kiwanis

Kiwanis --Kiwanis International is the head of the Kiwanis organization, made up of adults. --It is the top of the K-Family. --It is very much like Key Club in its structure, with clubs operating all around the globe. --Kiwanis is supports Key Club in many of its projects and endeavors.

Kiwanis Family Projects!! Here are some potential projects that will get you connected with your Kiwanis Family! -Joint picnic -Clean ups -Garage sales -Talent shows -Dinner/breakfast -Joint walk-a-thons -Dances -Fundraisers of all kinds -Hot Dog Eating Contest Anything you could possibly imagine! If you need any ideas, ask around others have great ideas! Or, ask your LTG’s and Club Officers

Remember We are Family!! If you have extra time at the end of the power point feel free to pull up the Kiwanis Family Relations Page and quickly go over the resources there.
